Is an ultralight glider more dangerous than a hang glider?
No, it’s quite the opposite:
- Flying is effortless and much more acurate than for a hang glider
- There is no tumbling hazard
- Landing on wheel and/or skid, tail wind is not a problem
- Protected by the structure of the fuselage, the pilot’s body is less exposed.
However foot launch is more hazardous than with a hanglider. But there are many safe alternate ways to take off: bungee, aerotow, winch, auto tow.
Except foot launch, ultralight glider flying is absolutely safer than hang gliding.
